business meeting on the status of a project

x here _0 and fifty per cent here _0 so basically what you have to do _1

for a quarter _0 you take this number and multiply it with that yeah _0 so _0 you have _1 twenty-five per cent _1 multiplied with one point zero five eight for example _0 for october

and then you multiply it with one point one four six _0 for november _1 and the same for december _1 so erm overall _0 the achievements for a_[org1] and a_[org2] are _0 somewhere in the range between one hundred five and one hundred fifteen per cent _1 for the period _1 october to december _2 erm _0 this means _1 erm okay _0 if you take that together it 's fifty per cent _0 you multiply it with that _0 so finally _0 ah no sorry that was wrong it was erm _2 yeah that 's that 's right xx so hh erm so _0 you exceed this fifty per cent _1 yeah

mhm

twenty-five plus twenty-five but it 's not the limit you can go beyond that and this is what happens _1 so basically erm _1 the the whole s_qpse is one hundred per cent _0

and you would get not considering the a_[org3] part something between fifty and fifty-five per cent for october to december

so we will get it _0 in march it will be for the _0

no

last quarter

we wo n't get it _0

we wo n't get it

okay there is one important explanation and this is here it 's mentioned that _0 these are the numbers for _0 s_q three _0 yeah hh er you have to understand the business here of _0 a_[org2] _0 starts in april _0 which means s_q three is our s_q four _0 or is let 's say the _0 s_q four of a _0 calendar year _0

that 's s_q three of the business year of a_[org2] hh this means it means these are the numbers _0

yeah from october to december

so first time we will see our name in these _0 statistics is _0 january february march

exactly yeah

which is not xx

so we should get the numbers like _0 mid or end of april something like that and then we should see the first time this xx for a year

_2

and basically _3 i guess we should here _0 crop up at one of these categories mhm _2 and then _0 when you have this email you can _0 directly calculate how much xxx you will see and of course i mean you have to _0 erm _1 you have to take your overall s_qplc amount _0 divided by four _0 yeah _0 cos it 's _0 concerning one quarter

okay _1

mhm _6

is this _0 clear _0 so far

mhm _2

okay _2 erm _3

h- how is the bonus taxed _1 we pay full tax for it or

it 's just normal payment yeah

okay

there 's no difference

so we also it 's also covers some social insurance and other stuff _0 or it 's only the

do n't the social f_versicherung taken off for bonus of extra pays _0 it 's just tax _0

it depends how _0 they _0 they do and the tax low yeah

it 's it 's just just a regular _0 part of the salary so i guess it 's exactly the same as as salary _1

yeah

yeah

because it 's part xx yeah _0 yeah so

so but you do n't pay social f_versicherung for bonuses _0

so the

hm

but it 's pa- part of the salary though is n't it _1

i do n't know xx we have to ask for it

yeah

it 's it 's part you know it 's taken

xxxxxx payment is part of the salary _0 but bonus is something extra

yeah

no

so it 's not treated as a special

in

as much it is

i- in the contract there is part of the salary so _0 what you get is _2 well we 'll see _0 i guess _5 _3

okay are there any other questions _2 today _1 no _1

i heard some rumours that the a_[org4] group has _0 floated around in the organizational ma- matrix _1

hh yeah that 's er under discussion erm _1 basically what is the direct report line and what 's the dotted report line so basically who 's the boss of the _0 of the _0 the team hh erm _1 what is clear is _1 where will the boss will be in the end _0 that people will most probably work for both _0 business units _0 yeah for both a_[org5] and a_[org4] hh but it 's not yet _0 really clear who 's the boss

yeah

@@@@ @@@

erm okay

hhh well i guess that 's quite normal when you _0 when you change _0 or when you 're _0 acquired by another _0 company _2 that it takes some time until the organization is is clear

yeah that 's true and i 've seen that recently we 've been sent a email _1 with a questionnaire about _0 the integration progress

mhm

and okay and i did n't read personally because i forgot my password _1 but er @@@ _0

@@@@

er a_[firstname1] has shown it to me _0 and _0 okay for most of the questions the answer would be negative _0 i do n't know if it was the case for other guys

same here

but yeah we do n't feel integrated at all i 'd say _0

the only thing which was n't already this s_qplc thing _2 and most that 's it i do n't feel the integration going on _0

mhm

mhm

i mean i feel it because the computer 's not working or what @@@ it 's not a thing we should worry we guess _1

@@

and we get more spam mails as well yeah

so may- i i 'm afraid that they have sent this email a a little too early and they may be really a- astonished by the result _0 if they were all honest _2

yeah

but _1

hhh yeah it depends erm _0 obviously in _0 er in such integration phases many companies see the integration more taking place in the area of er administration and finance and so on hh so erm you know there are plans for introducing s_sap and things like that yeah erm so maybe _0 maybe we are not aware that there is not much integration going on yet in the engineering _0

mhm

that might very well be _0

okay but these questions were actually addressed _0 to us so _0 i i 'm just think th- w- they should really get feedback that _0

okay

maybe they should p_resend it in _0

at least they

three months or something like that

no but maybe that 's exactly what they want to see because maybe _1

what they want

@@

at least we got a highlight there you know yeah

you know may-

yeah maybe the management has the _0 has the feeling the integration should have erm

finished by now

er not finished but should have progressed _0 further _0 hh and it has n't _1

oh

okay

so i think it 's _0 it 's the right thing to just er honestly answer these questions _0 instead of saying yeah okay it 's too early send it again in two months hh _0

okay yeah that 's maybe _0 maybe it will be sent by default in two months

mhm _2

hh erm yeah i do n't know _0 erm _0 if you are aware about what 's going on in the s_it currently _0 so on the weekend obviously they have changed all the s_ip addresses of all computers in the _0 in the company hh so this does not apply only to here this also applies to a_[place1] and _0 and a_[place2] _1 and erm yeah people are wondering why this is so difficult you just change the address and that 's it but it 's actually not that _0 easy _0 yeah we have erm _0 we have many servers running we have many services running _0 and all that has to be updated at the same time so i think it 's _0 although it 's painful it 's normal that some things do not work at the moment _0

was there any plan behind it before it started _0 because i have a feeling _0 okay i do n't know how complicated it is of course _0 but er _1 in a well-organized company it would be first _1 f- er four weeks of preparations _0 and then _0 switch over during weekend

and a lot of _0 risk should be already foreseen before

mhm

yeah

and you know in well-organized companies it 's exactly the same and anyway it does not work after the weekend

no -o

yeah

no seriously it does _0

@@

i mean at a_[org6] they have these regular checks and blah blah blah things like this they moved to a_[org7] and i have not really _0 felt that something did n't work _1 i mean from s_it side _0 i was just wondering if we _0 if somebody took care of organizational this beforehand be- because now we are losing a lot of money because _1

yeah okay

i know fifty per cent of people ca n't work _1

okay er if you just addressed the move to a_[org7] that 's quite easy because er they do n't have the s_it any more in a_[place1] it 's in a_[place3] and they anyway just er connect er remotely so you know that 's much easier than moving servers and services and so on

no _1 okay this we ca n't really decide because we do n't know _0 what 's behind it but

yeah

what i mean is just a question _1 was anybody taking care of _1 organizing this _0 switch-over _1

i mean we were not involved in that that 's er _0 that 's the task of s_it and erm i have not _0 discussed that i just know that erm a_[firstname2] has proposed _0 hh erm at least once _0 to move that _0 so it should have been done earlier _1 and he said we are not yet prepared _0 yeah _0 erm so i guess there was some planning yeah _2

okay

were the changes just s_ip address switch-overs _0 or is it structural cha- changes also _1 so will we see any benefit in network performance

n- no no it 's just s_ip addresses at the moment _0 hh but in general we had a good discussion last week with the _0 s_it integration manager _1 he came here from a_[place4] _1 hh and er basically they _0 er they plan _0 erm for a period of three months to _0 to look at all the services all the hardware servers and so on _0 and and update that or replace it if necessary _1 so erm in in like three months we should see _0 erm _1 new desktops probably new servers new services so this should be _0 done roughly in in three months _0 something like that yeah hh and we said

yeah we appreciate that they take some time to do all that _0 erm instead of just changing everything from one day to the next without you know _0 because the the goal is that it 's xxx _2 if we have this new structure er it should be easy to just add fifty people _0 to it hm _0 that 's the major goal _2

and _0 is that true that we will all get s_pcs _0 at s- at some point

er that 's the _0 standard a_[org2] solution yeah the _0 er a_[org2] normally has a s_pc _1 so erm documentation mail web all that is done on a s_pc hh and then you just have a citrix login _0 for the design work _0 erm it 's not finally decided yet but erm it looks like the most likely solution because erm probably we have the best support if we do that _1 because _1 erm a_[org2] has only s_pcs with a maintenance erm contract _0 or support contract _0 erm they have erm _0 what 's the english word _1 erm you know remote administration software installed on each s_pc _0

mhm

erm so _0 basically the s_pcs would n't _1 be necessarily maintained any more from here but from er from _0 probably the a_[place5] _1 erm but that 's also an advantage because then we have twenty-four seven support _0 we have a standard installation each s_pc has the same installation we have all programs on the s_pc and so on so we probably have the best support and these standard tasks could be taken away from our local s_it hh to the central s_it and then the local guys here can concentrate on the supporting the _0

the people with special _1 erm topics

special okay _1

and what happens with all the licences we already have for a_[org8] are these directly transferable to s_pc or _0 were they bought xx unix in mind

no we we would n't work on s_pc yeah _0 we still have the citrix login to unix to solaris so this _0 this does n't change we wo n't do the _0 i mean you do n't get the design work on er the design software on s_pc

mhm _1

so this we stay on _0 solaris or linux or so _1

where _0 where will we have the servers here _0 a_[place5] a_[place6] or _1

er which servers

a_[place7] _2 the servers we are going to work on _2

what do you mean with servers

big machines to run the tasks on

they will be here _0

ah _1

there is a strategy at a_[org2] to centralize the s_it but that 's more mid- or long-term _0 strategy so for the moment _0 the machines would be here _0 erm some services or servers will also move away _0 so for example finally we probably wo n't have mail servers any more here _1 erm so currently we still have the a_[org3] mail server and _0 erm the a_[org2] mails are forwarded to the a_[org3] mail server but this will change so finally we will directly _0 get the mails _0 or use the mail servers of a_[org2] in the a_[place5] _0

when is it planned _1

do n't know what 's the _0 schedule

okay _1 it 's a very good idea actually _1 er i was thinking if i had to stay let 's say in a_[place1] for a couple of days i would not have access to my emails because a_[org3] does n't offer the web access and _0

mhm

mhm

a_[org2] does _0

yeah

yeah the web access currently is _0 more or less disabled because the mails are forwarded to a_[org3] _0 yeah as soon as erm the a_[org3] servers do not exist any more we can also use the p_webmail then _3 additionally yeah i think everybody who gets a laptop erm so that 's currently mainly the project managers _1 will have a s_vpn installed and then er wherever you can _1 access the internet you can download your emails also _3 but only with the standard a_[org2] installation not the _1 the old _0 a_[org3] installation _2

so you you use we know with that _0 erm scenario you ca n't _0 erm _0 access the development _0 area then _1 from from our s_vpn

that 's not yet set out by a_[org2] _0 they are currently working on that on a on a solution like _0

okay

probably tarantella or so

okay yeah whatever

erm but that 's ongoing that 's not yet _0 solved _1 erm what is important to understand is they distinguish the s_it into two parts _0 one is _0 what they call erm _1 i think backbone _1 yeah

infrastructure x

and then _0 the second part is project _1 so the backbone is like the standard installation everybody needs _1 email documentation and so on and that 's normally s_pc _1 and the project then might be _0 for a software project that we need _1 erm a compiler or whatever hh er it might be for a s_ic design project that you need a complete infrastructure like a unix network licences and so on _1 so that 's split yeah so the guys we currently talk to in a_[place4] _0 they are backbone _1 yeah and er they will now involve somebody from a_[place8] for _0 for the project yeah and they involve also us _0 for the project requirements

mhm

so that 's _0 that 's split _1

does that mean that we can then share licences as well then _0 across sites or or is that nothing for _0 future

i think that 's _0 that 's certainly the future plan but currently we can not because

mhm

our licences or our our erm _0 licence contracts _0 do not allow that at the moment _1

x x

and the a_[org2] ones also do not allow it _0 yeah

we do n't have p_multi-site licences

well yeah erm er i mean we have p_multi-site licences but just for our three sites _0 yeah

ah _0 okay

and er a_[org2] probably has also _0 i think they have p_multi-site licences but only for a_[place7] _1

mhm

because all the the s_ic design so far is done in a_[place7] hh so the contracts have to be changed and erm i do n't know if you can just _0 change them somewhere in the middle _0 maybe they run till the end and they are changed then _0

ev- _0 everything negotiable i think yeah

especially for a_[org2]

@ @@@ @@@ @

just a matter of money _0 yeah

yeah _0 exactly

and yeah you know _0 the the whole _0 s_blsi team _0 is very big that 's _1 i think more than thousand people _1

mhm

but _0 most of them are in the s_odcs in the offshore design centers _0 and there they get the licences the infrastructure and everything from the customer _1 erm so the _0 the the real erm _2

yeah how to call it _0 design service team _1 which is available for any customer _0 is much much smaller so it 's erm they are _1 in a similar situation as we are in terms of licences and infrastructure and so on yeah _1

mhm

okay

so it 's not that we suddenly have a _0 a partner with fifteen hundred engineers and erm _0 er ten times more licences than we have that 's _0 not the case

mhm okay _3 i- is has there any discussion _0 regarding the lab _1 network internet and so on

erm _2 i have er kicked that off erm _1 after _0 the discussion with you

mhm

er we have been discussing that in the s_rnd management team _1 there is one thing which is also not yet clear erm this _0 business unit a_[org4] er will do analogue mixed signal _0 s_ip design and then the s_ips probably would have to be characterized and so on and that would be done in the lab so there is still a long list of equipment hhh erm _0 er which is probably bought _0 for the lab which is then _1 erm probably financed by a_[org4] and not _0 you know by a_[org5] _0

mhm

so it 's not _0 er let 's say the _0 lab responsibility is also not yet clear that 's linked to the _0 er to your question _0 that 's the erm location of the _1 team downstairs is not yet _0 fully clear in the organization hhh erm but in general yeah we er erm we are discussing that _0

okay

who could be responsible for it erm i think the _0 im- _0 the most important input from your side was _1 erm the the safety _0 in the lab _0 yeah i mean this made us erm _2 y- yeah _0 think about it _1 erm because _0 this should be _1 i mean this should be clear if you go into the lab that somebody gives you an introduction and _0 and so on hh and there is also this discussion with _0 with the s_it in the lab yeah _0 i mean you brought up a good point that it might be _1 might be good to lock the lab _0 and then only certain people have access _0 and then er we put the s_pcs in our normal network and not in this _0 separated network

yeah _1

so _0 there are actually many topics to discuss and _0 we have started that but _0 i do n't know how long it takes especially the s_it because _0 yeah the time frame is _0

yeah

three months _0 at least

yeah okay mhm

are there any plans _0 to utilize the floor space upstairs _0 because if you are going to bring more work into the lab _0 other groups _0 you do n't have enough space there _0

that 's a good point yeah @@ you need to make it bigger

probably so

mhm

is that spoken about

no there are no concrete clan- er plans to do that but as the _0 the _0 erm third floor second floor is not used otherwise we can do that any time _1 yeah so it 's basically no problem in terms of infrastructure and so on

cos that is

controlled access yeah _2

ah you mean the third floor just for the lab

just for

yeah

okay _0 no that 's

x

@@@

that room you can make with controlled access as well yeah _0

twenty per cent of the company only is a lab @

then you _0 deter- _0 that that _0 er room there _0 you can make it controlled access as well _0

okay

mhm _0

you just put your _1 er s_id _1 chip in _0 and then it _0 you know _0 locks in and locks in

mhm

yeah _1 we can try that _1 yeah _2 erm but it seems to work okay _0 but _0 it just need to be like a chip card _1 used to be _0 but you can _2 er automatically lock in _0 when you go out so _2

i mean er it depends on how much we do in the end in the lab _0

erm you know we also have this wafer p_prober for example so we are _0

mhm

we are thinking about utilizing that to to offer that as a service _0 no- not for _1 i mean obviously we can not _0 do it for _0 for production _0 er like testing _1 production testing _0 er but we could do _1 a characterization qualification er such things on the wafer p_prober _1 and _0 we had requests from other companies where they were asking _0 whether we can do that for them or not

wafer p_prober we have wafer p_prober

we have a wafer p_prober yeah

is this already installed there somewhere

yeah

no

yeah no

still wrapped up _1

but it seems to be a quite good one actually _1

xxxx

er for the _2

we just can make sure that you put in a basement _0 er xxxxxx floor _0 @@@

yeah _2 basically we have to take the floor out _0 and put it on the _0 concrete _1

well okay yeah that 's very _0 vibration-sensitive _3 but it is a tester or just a p_prober

it 's er _1 ooph

because that 's a huge difference

i do n't know i think it 's a p_prober

of tens of millions dollars @@@

yeah i think it 's just a p_prober

so it 's just a p_prober bound to do analysis of xxxx but not characterization and xxxx yeah

but

we can do e- exactly

yeah but we can do that _0 er of _0 of x _0 yeah _0 we do n't need a _1 or _0 on a on a wafer yeah we do n't need a packaged x yeah

mhm _3 okay _2 yeah but

and obviously erm there is even a possibility to have _1 erm like pad holes _1 somewhere in the middle of the design _1 i mean of _0 obviously not real pads but you know like _0

mhm

holes yeah _0

xx

and then you can _0 even contact signals in the design

mhm mhm

yeah _0 but they must be _0 explicitly _0 designed there are n't even there quite big _1

hh yeah and for longer you probably need er proper drivers and so on if you take analogue design and we put the needles only in middle of the design it most probably does n't work any more _1

yeah

that can be _2

so we got some _0 quite good equipment there from a_[place9] and have to set all that up and _1 so _0 this discussion in ongoing but honestly i do n't know how long it takes _5 _4 any other questions _6

_4

hm _0

okay _0 then i have a question what are the first results @@@@

@@@

the first what results

the first results _1

no results yet i mean i 'm gon na _0 analyze _0 this stuff _0 at home _0 at first i have to transcribe it _1 which is quite a time-consuming er process _2 then we 'll see @

okay _1 do we get the results

wha-

yeah sure _0 @

@

what 's the results then _0 it 's

hm

what 's the results it 's er

er actually i 'm not _0 i do n't know yet what i 'm going to analyze which _0

@ @@@

aspect it can be maybe it 's some tiny little lexical grammatical thing or it 's a pragmatic _0

ah okay

xx

thing how _0 how you _1 er take turns in speaking _0 some kind of discourse analytical stuff so _1 ooph _3

or maybe she 's just selling this _1 records to a_[org9] or

this information

@@@@@@

no no

that would be probably most profitable @@@@

@@@@

do you find that there is mistakes made specific to people from the different countries like maybe _0 swedish people _0 say something in _0

mhm

some way in english _0 and _0 there are german people who say it in another way

yeah no er this is not our aim _0 to describe _0

okay

which mother tongue has _0 this erm specifics in english _0 it 's only about english as ling- lingua franca in general _0 er what it looks like and we think that it has its own regularities _1 and it 's an own language _0 erm different from english which is spoken by native speakers of english _1 and since there are so many people around the world nowadays _0 who speak english but do n't have it as a mother tongue _1 it 's yeah _2 ooph quite a project @

mhm _3

i i think we are also _0 i mean _0 here it 's probably difficult because people like a_[firstname3] _0 he 's here since a couple of years and _0 i i think the even the _0 erm the _0 the native speakers _0 get messed up after some time with @@@

@@@@@@

with not not native english _0

maybe yeah @

x that 's what a_[firstname4] told me all the time yeah he was also from from a_[place10] but he left us some time ago

mhm

scotland

england

@@@

sorry yeah _0 scotland _1 and he always said when he _0 when he went home _1 people looked at him and said _0

@@ @@

what 's up with you _0 are n't you _1 how do you speak i mean @@

mhm

he was talking slowly

yeah

so _1

but still it 's _1

but

it 's not about making mistakes i mean you still communicate although _0

mhm

there are some _1 errors or mistakes but you still get your message- messages across and that 's what we 're trying to _1 describe that it 's not important to speak _0 erm perfect english _0 when you wanted to _0 communicate with other nations and other other languages

actually speaking perfect english really makes communication difficult

diff-

yeah

@@@@@@@@@@@@

yeah _3 okay there

i 've one quick question it 's got absolutely nothing to do with anything erm _0 what with the company ski day _1 there should be one towards the end of march for the french guys _0 are gon na come up _1 during the last two weekends _1 and

i get these questions

everybody down there knows that _0 but nobody here knows that

exactly i had a discussion with somebody from a_[place1] on friday and _0 he also asked me about the ski day and i said _1 i do n't know i have no information _1 erm _1 just call a_[firstname5] _1 he knows it certainly @

okay

but i do n't know anything about it at the moment

i 've heard some rumours that it would be on _1 between tenth and twentieth of march

the last two weekends of march i think they put up the possibilities in france and people would say whether they could attend or not

that 's when 's sain-

i 've heard it 's saint patrick 's day is on friday _0 and then the next saturday is skiing day and some people _0 i will not mention the names say that they will be completely drunk on friday so can not participate on saturday i mean it 's funny

@@@@@@@

@@@@@@@@@@

that wo n't be the irish people huh

@@ no no i 'm not saying anything

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

could be very funny _2

i- i just do n't know

it 's also i 've heard the rumour that er maybe we will go skiing _0 somewhere _0 f_brandnertal _0 or something like this and then go to sing bar _0

mhm

for night

okay

but this is just a rumour _1 also heard in cafeteria _2

yeah and _0

@@

a_[firstname5]

should put a microphone into the cafeteria you 'd hear really interesting things @@@@@ _1

mhm @@@@@

exactly you know @@@

@@@@@@@

er i spoke with a_[firstname5] once and he was thinking about organizing a _0 a race _0 not just a normal ski day _2

oh fuck _0

no

@@ that 's killing for the schedule of all projects @@@@

@@@@@

@@@

so if we go to f_brandnertal then i think it 's quite likely that he organizes a race because he has talked about _0 f_brandnertal and _0 and the race _2

okay

okay

because i mean we always went to _2 f_stenten normally

f_stenten or also f_brandnertal i think a couple of years ago

yeah only once yeah

mhm _4

_1 okay _1 then _1 thank you erm our next team meeting would actually be on friday but i 'm skiing on friday so @@ @@@@@@ now i 'm out er wednesday till friday _1

@@@@@@

so we have the next one next week then

mhm

or we can do one tomorrow if you want but it 's maybe xxxx @@@

okay thanks

okay thank you _2
